SUMMER WEEK-PROGRAM

Lapland is best known for its fairy winters, but summer is just as magical.
Picture preserved nature and endless days: here nights are no longer nights and dusk and dawn merge into the sky nimbed with gold.
We offer a multi-activity week (8 days/7 nights), a natural stay under the midnight sun.
We do not accommodate more than 8 people for the same stay which allows us to be attentive to each one and to assure you of calm and serenity.
The weeks begin and end on Saturdays.

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO NAALI LODGE

Transfer (about 1 hour drive from Kuusamo airport) then check-in at the lodge.
Reception and dinner.

DAY 2 – HIKE IN KOROUOMA

To warm up, a small hike of 5 km in the nature reserve of Korouoma. This 30 km long and 130 m deep canyon – famous in winter for its ice falls – offers in summer, a unique fauna and flora, impressive rocky soils, and a beautiful river. Great opportunities for bird watching and nature photography.
Lunch break in a lavu (open shelter). Back in the afternoon.

EVENING 2- OPTION:
BEAR WATCHING NIGHT*

At the end of the first day, you can choose to stay at the lodge to relax or leave for a bear-watching night. The site is located along the Russian border about 1-hour drive. You will spend the night in a shelter and observe bears and Eagles under the famous midnight sun. An amazing experience! Return to the lodge in the morning.

DAY 3 – INITIATION PADDLING

Day of initiation or training at packraft. Facing the lodge, on the small lake Saarijarvi, you will familiarize yourself with the handling of these inflatable kayaks perfectly stable and very comfortable. You will be quite comfortable for the day expedition on Lake Yli-Kitka.
You can also try stand up paddles and canoes.

EVENING 3 – FISHING EVENING

In the late afternoon, our friend, Timo, a local fisherman, will take us to his secret spots to try and catch perch and pike.
We will eat what we fish and enjoy these magical nights without a sunset.

Return to the lodge around 23:00

DAY 4 – HIKING IN RIISITUNTURI NATIONAL PARK

The Riisitunturi National Park is part of the large forest area of the taiga at the northern edge of the Eurasian continent. Covered with spruce and thick moss, it is characterized by a combination of hills and peat bogs. Located mainly at 300 meters above sea level, thirteen of its peaks rise to over 400 meters.

We will do a 12 km hike with a lunch break midway.

DAY 5 – PACKRAFTS DAY

A full day on the splendid lake Yli-Kitka aboard the packrafts, duo, or solo. Calm and serenity.

Duration: about 5h

DAY 6 – AUTTIKÖNGÄS HIKE OR FREE DAY

According to your feeling, choose to spend a relaxing day at the lodge: little walk around, traditional sauna heated by a wood stove, swimming in the lake…

Or go for a short hike to the magnificent waterfalls of Auttiköngäs nestled within a protected primary forest with lush vegetation (drive around 2h return trip). Lunch around the fire.

DAY 7 – OULANKA NATIONAL PARK,
PIENI KARHUKIERROS

For this last day, head to the famous National Park of Oulanka, in its southernmost part, for the trail of the mythical Karhunkierros, but in its lighter version – the Pieni Karhunkierros . We will cross rapids, steep cliffs and protected forests. You will discover a varied flora: dryad, emblem of the Park, wild strawberry…

Duration: 6 to 7 h • distance: 12 km

DAY 8 – RETURN FLIGHT

Breakfast then transfer to the airport.
It’s time to go home, fully resourced after this plunge into nature!
